Walking and texting in Fort Lee, New Jersey? That’ll be $85

While laws against texting and driving spread across the nation Fort Lee, New Jersey has taken an even larger step into the world of ‘Nanny State’ polices by passing a law banning people from sending text messages while walking. Yes, walking, on your feet, down the public sidewalks can get you stopped by the gestapo police and get you an $85 fine.

Apparently the economic decline has eliminated a lot of potential revenue generators drivers from the road so the town of Fort Lee has expanded their rules to the people who can no longer afford to drive. We’re wondering when they will implement a speed limit on pedestrians or maybe require walkers to display proper tags and up to date registration to be out on the sidewalks.
