Ron Paul Gets 22% (update, it’s now 24%) In Idaho Primary!

Filed under: 2008 Election, Ron Paul

AOL and CBS are both showing Ron Paul at 22% against John McCain in the Idaho Primary. This is another sign that the GOP really needs to start thinking strategy for November.

Even though McCain has been pulling 70-80% in primaries Ron Paul has been consistently pulling 15-25% of the vote. While this seems easy to most people the goal of this whole process is to win the Presidency. John McCain will not get any support from the Ron Paul camp. In the November Presidential Election Ron Paul voters will split between Obama and Barr, with some writing in Ron Paul.

On the other hand Ron Paul will pull all of McCain’s support (i.e. people who will vote Republican no matter what and people who would never vote for a black person) by default.

Ron Paul also have the upper hand as he will pull a lot of votes from people registered as Democrats, including the anit-war movement. McCain has no appeal to Democrats.

Of course lest a miracle occurs McCain will be the nominee and the American people will be denied a real choice yet again. If Bush doesn’t get to bomb Iran one of his successors will. And at least no one will be disappointed, as we the people will end up getting more and more the the same crap and care not the least, as long as American Idol is still on the tube.

Update:

Paul has ended up with 24% of the vote, a very large percentage of the vote for someone who has effectively stopped campaigning and gets very little mainstream news coverage.

Bullshit.

Look at the state by state data on CNN.com, he’s gotten 15 to 25% exactly 9 times. Out of 40+ races that’s not “consistently”. If anything he consistently gets less than 10%.

Sorry I was a Ron Paul supporter but when McCain won the nomination by securing the required amounts of delegates I acknowledged that it was over.

All this says is that Ron Paul is a sore loser.

Comment by Jared Lorz 05.28.08 @ 4:47 am

Jared, it’s not about Ron Paul being a sore loser. His goal, since he can’t win the nomination, is to gain as many delegates as he can and present his message at the Republican National Convention. He’s just trying to make a change for the better in the GOP.

Huh? RP would never run with a socialist.

>

Indeed. I think the author was implying that last few primaries. his support seems to be growing. I think more & more people are discovering who he is (albeit way too late) and are voting for freedom as opposed to voting for the puppets we’ve been given to choose from.

Over? It’s just beginning. This is bigger than RP. The fact that you don’t get that proves you don’t understand the message.

>
> All this says is that Ron Paul is a sore loser.

How does this say anything about RP? He didn’t write this article & he’s not even actively campaigning. He simply wants to get the message out that we’re in deep trouble & none of the 3 stooges we’ve got left have any clue as to how to get us back out. McCain is a Bush clone who’s even *more* bent on unjust wars & we’ve seen how well that turned out. Then we have 2 socialists who want to the state to run everything & strip even more rights from you.

You’ve swallowed the blue pill, sheeple. Enjoy your ignorance.

What people call ‘Miracles’ can still happen… an awakening of the American people to the fact that the other candidates all have no substance (except for Chuck Baldwin who is now in the race as the Constitution Party presidential candidate.

If a miracle doesn’t happen at the RPNC then I will be voting for Ron Paul’s twin: Chuck Baldwin.
Matter of fact, I am going to start supporting him starting today. Google him to find out more.

“McCain has no appeal to Democrats.”

That’s news to me. Methinks you don’t really know McCain’s background.

The facts do clearly show that Ron Paul has lost this election, but the real losers are the American people. We are allowing a government that WE are supposed to govern take complete control of every facet of our lives. They create the problem so we will scream for help, and they increase the size and spending of government to create another insufficient fix. We will than scream for more government when that fix goes bunk. They are infinitely patient, and we have been fooled. In the near future, they will take everything we ever thought we owned to save the planet. I am tired of being the excuse for more power and the enemy of that power. I would rather just be the enemy. Revolution is happening, but we need not shed our brother’s blood. This is a revolution of the mind. Wake up. You days are numbered. Life is too short to be in a cage.

Re: Jordan

Earlier in the primaries Paul’s numbers were lower (single digits) but he has been pulling about 15-25% in the last few states. Chill out man.

Comment by Bob 05.28.08 @ 6:30 am

Republicans are barely voting because McCain already clinched the nomination, there’s no reason to vote, except for the 20 people who think Ron Paul is a good idea

American Idol is awesome.. i love americon idle and i love our govemeat. you guys would be happier if you just excepted the illusion and stopped to care.. duh. Say It!

>>On the other hand Ron Paul will pull all of McCain’s support<<
So you are suggesting that the Republican party, for it’s own good, should name Ron Paul the candidate in the general election? You’re probably right about that except one thing … the Republican Party has been captured by neocons. Only war hawks need apply. Ron Paul is a leper from their standpoint. Ain’t gonna happen.

Comment by Joe 05.28.08 @ 7:44 am

“split between Obama and Barr…” Who is Barr?

Comment by Connie 05.28.08 @ 8:37 am

I dont vote for someone because I think they will win, I vote for them because he is the best candidate for my views. What are we getting out of this war? Higher prices, sounds worth it to me. The constitution is what makes this country great, not tough talking guys saying how they will never surrender when they arent in the fight. Most of the people dont even vote because they know politicians and the election process is full of crap. But when they dont vote we end up with people that arent worth voting for. If Mccain gets power and we bomb Iran then gas prices go up to 8.00 a gallon, I hope all you mccain people choke on the fumes!
