How Long Until You Can Google a License Plate and Find the Car?

So, I saw the new “Street View” tool on Google Maps and I came across a parking lot and I noticed that you can read the license plates off the cars there.

I also saw a pic on there of some guy walking out of a strip club. Google has the ability to screen photos by type (i.e only show face pictures upon request) and I’m sure they can match them if they want too, governments and security companies already do this. How long until you can have Google tell you where someone is, and where they’ve been?

The scariest question is this. How many generations are we from a living in a society where the idea of privacy no longer exists? One? Two? I highly doubt it will be many more than that at this pace.
